Senior Pastor: Dave Gilpin
Welcome to Hope City Church! So much is coming up in July in each of our SIX cities and it's all planned with you in mind! Be a part of the action!
We’re starting this month in all of the congregations with life lessons from the movies looking at the amazing movie ‘Up’ and the controversially popular ‘Avatar’. What is amazing is that James Cameron has directed the two biggest grossing movies ever (the other one being Titanic) by tapping into mainstream culture and the fabric that holds it together.
The more you listen to the message of Jesus Christ, the more you realise that it also touches the fabric of humanity through its story of love, betrayal, salvation and hope. The big difference though is that Jesus is only an arm’s length away from anyone at any time and by faith he can transform your life by living in you, not just beside you.
We’ve got some big changes happening in Hope City Church from September onwards with Chris and Julie Thomas heading off to Vancouver to fulfil their dream to lead a church across the pond in Canada. Plus Simon and Olivia Bolton are moving to Birmingham to be Assistant Pastors of our Birmingham Congregation and launching Sunday morning services to compliment our Friday night services. We also have Ed Newton becoming International Pastor and Ali Bianchi becoming Family Pastor in our Sheffield Congregation.
Big changes, but all for an awesome future for our church and for the world we serve. Our Leadership Academy Graduation is on Sunday night 25th July which will mark one of the best intake of students we’ve ever had! It’s not too late to book into the fresh new intake for the new year starting in September!
On a personal note, I wrote to some production companies about an idea to help revamp struggling churches, much like 'The Hotel Inspector' does to struggling hotels. Tiger Aspect, which produces some of the best shows on British television have said that they’re interested and they’d look to pitch it to the major channels. I’ll keep you posted! ‘Sacred Cows Make Great BBQs’, my latest book, has made some headway in helping a lot of church leaders across the nation relook at what they believe and then bring their focus to the central truths of the Bible. Have a look at my BBQ’d version of ‘Footprints in the Sand’ on www.davegilpin.com.
Have a great July and I hope to see you soon in one of our congregations across England. If you live in Accra, Ghana, hope to see you at the beginning of September in your great nation!
All the best,
Dave & Jenny Gilpin
