If you haven’t noticed England has been in the grip of world cup fever! Everywhere you looked during June - the St George’s cross flag was everywhere from cars to shops and houses to clothing. People were obsessed with the flag! We were unified with one common hope of wining the World Cup!
I love it when our country comes together. Passion moves people! A man that was full of passion and put everything he had into whatever he was doing was a man called David. His passion for God was so evident. Before he ever went out into battle he sought God and asked him how he should fight, I think that is amazing. How often do we go to God because we have tried every other option and it has not worked so we go to God last? Just imagine if we went to God first - we would save ourselves so much time and energy.
David was a great leader with great influence but he was also a great follower. Saul had made it his life ambition to kill David. But when ever David had the opportunity to honour Saul or even save his life, David made sure he took it. Saul on the other hand, tired to kill him. When Saul died David still gave him an honourable funeral – WOW! How many of us would choose to do that. It gives a whole new perspective on 'loving your enemies’. David had a great attitude. Who is in your world that could do with being looked at with a new perspective? Why not choose to forgive and move on and walk into everything God has got for you and your future.
We have some great things happening in the month of July in Newcastle. Starting with Hope City United on Sunday 4th July at 6pm in St James’ Park. This is going to be an awesome night where the other four congregations in the UK will make the journey up north to make this night a powerful night. It’s a night not to be missed.
Connect Groups are meeting on Wednesday 7th July at 7.30pm. Connects are our small group networks that meet midweek to share what’s has been happening in church and our lives. Connects are an awesome opportunity to get to know people too. And last but not least we have Sunday Night Live here in Newcastle on Sunday 25th July at 6pm at St James’ Park with a special guest speaker so make sure you have the date in your diary to invite friends
Well so much stuff happening but its so exciting. We have church every Sunday 11am at St James’ Park, we have a full supervised kids programme for 2-10’s and a crèche facility for 0-2’s. We would love to see you there, so why not check us out.
See you there!
