Volunteer opportunities at The Megacentres in Sheffield and Liverpool

During the week, an average of over 2000 un-churched people come to one of our Megacentres through our many community activities and church businesses.

The more people who visit us, the greater the chance we have of making a difference in the community and ultimately seeing people come to know God. In order to make this happen, we need those with a desire to impact these people to rise up and get involved.

It doesn't have to be a full time commitment. If you have as little as 3 or 4 hours per week and would like to get involved, we will be glad to talk to you. From time to time as well as volunteer positions, we do offer paid part-time, casual and full time posts.  If you are interested in working down at the Megacentre please let us know.

(Some teams are applicable to only some of our Megacentres. Details are  indicated in brackets.)

Megarelax Cafe and Playcentre (Sheffield)

Our play centre is one of Sheffield's most popular and well attended with well over 1000 children coming into the centre every month. You could get involved in our café, serving food and refreshments to the public. Megakidz is also where we have our weekly 'Megatykes' (Parent & Toddler groups). These are an excellent bridge builder into the community and a great way of getting to know parents.

Megacentre Reception (Sheffield & Liverpool)

Amongst other things our busy reception takes most of the phone calls coming into the Megacentre during the day and is Sheffield also deals with parties and Megakidz customers. Their aim is to make sure that however people are contacting the Megacentre, they are getting an awesome welcome, which truly represents the spirit of Hope City Church.

Megacentre Administration (All cities)

Our administrators carry out a host of varied roles all designed to keep the wheels moving on the busy Megacentres. If you are good with a computer or you can do a bit of photocopying, typing, graphic design or help out with a mail out, then you will really enjoy being a part of the team.

Mega-Conferencing (Sheffield & Liverpool)

Most days now during the week we have at least one conference at the Megacentre. The Megacentre is fast becoming renowned for its great facilities and excellence in customer service. As we are getting more and more popular we are on the look out for budding caterers or those who can help out with food preparation.

Meganursery (Sheffield)

Our nursery can cater for up almost 60 full time places for children up to school age.  It's an exciting and fulfilling environment and is making a tremendous impact upon the local communities. You don't have to be qualified to get involved. You may have a couple of hours free at lunch times to help out with 'feeding time' or may help by being one of our 'floaters', by filling in during periods of holiday, absence or sickness.

MegaLearn - Community Education (Sheffield)

This area is an area which still remains relatively untapped although it has great potential in seeing needs met and relationships established within the local community. At the moment we teach ESOL (English to speakers of other languages) to many people including Asylum Seekers and Refugees, but our aim is to expand this over the next year to include many other areas including IT skills.  In order to do this we need people who can teach, and people who can support in the classroom and administratively.

Maintenance (Sheffield & Liverpool)

As the Megacentre grows so too does the need to keep it looking great. Our maintenance team uses their DIY skills and gets to build and encourage one another to be all that God has made them to be.

Megablitz (Sheffield & Liverpool)

Every so often we also have 'Megablitz' days which involve a group of people coming in and getting loads of stuff done in one day. A great way of getting to know people you don't already know in the church and putting your own DIY.

City Hearts (Sheffield)

It has been the desire of Jenny Gilpin, one of our Senior Ministers, to have a safe place for young women to come who have life controlling issues (drugs, unwanted pregnancies, self harm etc). The dream was fulfilled in the summer of 2005 when we opened up our first 'Girls House'. We have seen many girls come into the house and with the help of devoted women of God, find Christ and wholeness again. We always need help in the house, so if you have any spare time and would love to show your love to these needy girls then let us know.

Storehouse (Sheffield & Leeds)

We love to show mercy to anyone in need of food so we hand out food hampers to many people who cannot afford to buy food (asylum seekers, single mums etc) so if you would like to get involved then we would love to have you on the team.

If you would to get involved then please email the following people in your congregation:

Sheffield: VIV BROWNLEE
Liverpool: ROGER DAVIES
Leeds: CHRIS DENHAM
Newcastle: SIMON TAYLOR
